Opinions about porn changing faster than … just about everything else

Gallup’s 2011 Values and Beliefs poll reveals the biggest generational gaps in opinion are not just for gay/lesbian relations, premarital sex and out-of-wedlock births (wow, what a surprise) but also — and most drastically — for porn. 42 percent of those aged 18 to 34 found pornography to be morally acceptable, while only 19 percent of those 55 and older found it to be. That’s a whopping 23 percent difference! (We know you know how to do arithmetic too, but we figured, since it’s summertime and all, we’d calculate it out for you on our handy, dandy desktop calculator).

That compares with gay/lesbian relationships’ 19 percent, premarital sex’s 18 percent and out-of-wedlock births’ 16 percent change. Listen carefully and you can hear the collective groan of old folks everywhere complaining about our nation’s loss of morality.
