A woman was the victim of a strong-arm robbery in Southside Monday afternoon.
At about 1:57 p.m., the 22-year-old woman was using her iPhone as she was walking on the 2400 block of Haste Street when she was approached by a male who allegedly attempted to take her phone.
The victim tried to hold her phone, but the suspect forcefully grabbed it out of her hand, which caused a minor injury to her finger, according to a UCPD crime alert.
The suspect then fled the scene in a vehicle, which was stopped by Berkeley police officers on 7th Street and Ashby Avenue, the alert states.
The suspect was positively identified and the iPhone was found in the vehicle. The suspect was then arrested and booked for robbery, according to the alert.
The Berkeley Police Department will release the suspect’s photograph, name and physical description upon the conclusion of its investigation, the alert states.
