Report: Cal received services of controversial scout

Cal’s football program is one of two others to have used the recruiting services of Will Lyles, a Houston-based scout currently under NCAA  investigation for his involvement with the University of Oregon.

Invoices obtained by The Oregonian show that both Cal and LSU bought recruiting packages from Lyles which included game and highlight film. Cal was billed $5,000 by Lyles for the Complete Scouting Services’  ”2010 National Package,”  which was shipped on March 23, 2010. LSU gave $6,000 for the “2010 JUCO perState Package” — listed as recruiting tape from California and Kansas junior colleges — that was sent on  Nov. 8, 2010.

Lyles, who received $25,000 from Oregon, was revealed in a recent Yahoo! Sports interview to have influenced the recruitment of top players to the school — most notably, running backs LaMichael James and Lache Seastrunk.

There has been no official word from Cal. Lyles did not respond to The Oregonian’s requests for comment.

Lyles is lying. The Tx football mafia got to him. Lesson, Tx players stay in Tx or else.

The end of Tedford? We can only hope that it is because, apparently, scandal is the only thing that will get he and his ginormous paycheck outta here.

Think about what you wish for. As much as I dislike Tedford, if  he gets fired because of this, it likely means that Cal  did illegal recruiting and NCAA may penalize the football program  as a consequence of it. I hope that’s not the case.
