The following is a crime alert, provided by UCPD.
On Sunday, July 31, 2011, at approximately 1:04 a.m. a sexual battery and
simple assaults occurred at 2424 Haste Street. Four victims, one
male and one female student, and two non-affiliated females, were
attending a party at an apartment in the Rochdale Village Co-op complex.
The male victim was standing in a hallway on the second floor when he was
pinned to the wall by a male resident who groped him inappropriately. The
victim managed to get away from the suspect and rejoined his companions
downstairs. The suspect followed the male victim and threw drinks on the
three female victims. The suspect began punching the female victims
around the face. The four victims fled the party but were followed by the
suspect who continued to assault them. The suspect was detained by his
roommate and the four victims left the scene. UCPD was contacted and
arrested the suspect for sexual battery and simple assault. The femalevictims sustained minor facial injuries during the incident.
The suspect is described as:
MENDOZA, Juan Isidro, a non-affiliated Hispanic male, 21 years of age,
5’11” in height, 167 lbs., with black hair and brown eyes.

If you all knew anything about me one im involved community member that volunteers numerous hours for Stop AIDS project in San Francisco im majoring in PR and sociology with anemphisis in queer studies and hope one day to open a non profit dedicated to the LGBTQ community. Also I was struck numerous timea and had a knife pulled out on me folllowed by the words im going to kill you faggot. Im sorry this went to the extent it did one of the girls was necoming a good freind to me before this and it sad i lost her. As for the rapist attibute to this its compleatly illrealevant and it compleatly upsetting rape is something I dont tollerate at all amd to my ending comment goes to the author of this please look at the whole storie next time and try not to use the victim of a hate crime as a stepping stone in your porfolio
I was there when the incident occurred and this is blatantly slanderous. the daily cal should take this off as this was not what occurred at all. there are several other witnesses to what actually happened. take it down as you are humiliating, and screwing up this kids life.
This police report is extremely one-sided and few points veer from the truth. One of these three females pulled a knife on this guy and was hitting him repeatedly on the head. He was being incredibly patient with these girls before he attempted to kick them out of his apartment and they finally left. It’s vile and unnecessary for this picture to be released to the public.
This is disgusting.
He is definitely going to give Rochdale a bad name.
Incidents like this are only going to eliminate cheap cooperative housing for those who are actual residents.

3 females AND 1 male ran? This was a frat house? And the guy wasn’t huge either he was 5 foot 11, so the guy could have taken him and the female could have hit him from the side. Sure he would have hit back but you know what as long as the male takes most of the hits, this guy couldn’t POSSIBLY defeat 1 male WHILE he has 3 females on his side. Maybe if one of the females was in ill health she could run but the other two would NOT get hurt with the guy doing pretty much all of the fighting, the 2 women would only jump in shortly when the male gets knocked down by the rapist.
SOME people have a knife, yes, that’s why the male strikes fast and the females can rush in to hold the guy’s arms before he can reach for anything, you don’t have to be an expert at fighting just keep a tight fist and hit hard and fast

Note from someone who has been there, done that. If you are a straight white male and get in a mix-up with someone else who is NOT another SWM, guess who’s assumed guilty until proven innocent? That’s the way it rolls in PC loony Berkeley…
I’ve lived at Rochdale for over three years. Nothing like this has ever happened to me while living there, but I don’t exactly like to party. I’ve never seen this guy there before… hope I never will.

I never lived in the frat or co-op because I was a 30-something military veteran suffering from LBSTL (Low BS Tolerance Level). I figured minimizing my contact with childish, intoxicated children was the best way to stay out of trouble. FWIW…
