A man was arrested Monday night after allegedly sexually battering a UC Berkeley student on Southside.
At around 9 p.m., the victim, a 19-year-old female student, was walking with two friends on the 2600 block of Durant Avenue near Bowditch Street when a man approached her from behind and grabbed her inappropriately, according to a UCPD crime alert. UCPD responded to the scene and detained an individual, who matched the description of the suspect, at the intersection of Bowditch and Haste Street.
The suspect, Torra Lewis, 49, was positively identified by the victim and taken into custody by the Berkeley Police Department.
The victim was not physically injured during the encounter.

Isn’t diversity wonderful?
Three of the top stories on the daily cal right now are sexual batteries. This place is a **** hole.
yeah, the juxtaposition with the previous day’s article on UCPD/BPD patrol collaboration is kinda nice.
Attn Parents: prepare to get groped on campus! (but we’ll be there to clean up the aftermath)
We need to be more tolerant. On second thought, give them some hard time then deport their sorry asses.
