The rankings, which the report has released annually since 1985, included five other UC campuses in its top 50, including UCLA, which trailed four spots behind Berkeley at number 25.
UC Berkeley was the highest ranked public institution in the report, ahead of competing public institutions such as the University of Virginia and the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor which were ranked 25th and 28th, respectively.
UC Berkeley jumped one spot from last year and was still the top public institution in the rankings, surpassing Georgetown University this year to take the 21st spot.
