Hah, got you! O.K., maybe they didn’t play together, but they both are recent topics in the world of music!
A couple CD releases include albums from Feist, Jack’s Mannequin, and Mutemath. Seems like a lot of alt rock CDs lately. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, but where are all the other genres? We had such a good run for awhile, what happened?
Some bigger news for music though is the release of the new Misfits album, The Devil’s Rain. The horror punk band haven’t had a studio album release since 2003, and that was just a covers album. Do the troublemakin’ rockers still have what it takes to create frenzied mosh pits and chaotic tracks? No, Hugh Laurie doesn’t make a guest appearance. But…

He DID appear at the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass festival that just happened this past weekend in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park. For a free festival, there were some fairly big name acts. Robert Plant, Bright Eyes, Chris Issak, Broken Social Scene, Buckethead and even Hugh Laurie made it out to play some stripped down, easy-going tunes. That’s right, House didn’t just appear at the show, he played in it. For those that don’t know, Laurie has been dabbling in blues and bluegrass for some time now. Nice to see he made it out to S.F. for the free festivities. If you attended, what did you think of the festival?

Dabbling? Do you know he just released a blues album and has been all over TV promoting it? He even had a full hour on PBS’ Great Performances, still viewable streaming on PBS’ website.
Apparently you aren’t too tuned into the blues yourself!
