Last days of Central Market Arts in the City this week

This is the second year for the 24 Days of Central Market Arts Festival in San Francisco. The three week festival showcases the talents of local visual and performance artists who have studios in and around Central Market.

Once a vibrant theater district in the early 20th century, Central Market is still home to venues such as The Warfield and Orpheum theaters. Today, local arts groups are joining together to promote the neighborhood’s still thriving arts’ scene and utilizing the beauty of  San Francisco’s metropolitan landscape as a backdrop.

There are a number of dance companies that perform in the festival, including Alonzo King LINE Dance Center and A.C.T.

Most shows are free and put on in cooperation between local arts studios and businesses (stores and cafes), including Alonzo King LINES Dance Center and A.C.T.

Performances are situated around Market Street and are conveniently located near Powell and Civic Center BART stations. The festival will continue on to Sunday, October 16.
