Two separate armed robberies occurred south of campus this week, according to police.
The first occurred Tuesday at about 1:20 a.m. when a 63-year-old male victim was walking near the intersection of Durant and College avenues, according to a UCPD crime alert. According to the alert, five male teens approached the man and one of the teens allegedly pointed a semi-automatic type of handgun at the man. The suspects then allegedly took the man’s computer bag and fled on foot.
The male victim walked to UCPD’s location in Sproul Hall to report the robbery, according to the alert. Officers from UCPD and the Berkeley Police Department searched the area following the incident and were able to recover the victim’s bag and its contents but did not locate the suspects, according to the alert.
The second alleged armed robbery occurred at about 1:05 a.m. Thursday on College Avenue near Dwight Way, according to a second UCPD crime alert. In that incident, a man and woman were walking northbound on College when they were approached by three males, one of whom allegedly pointed a gun at them and demanded their property, according to the alert.
“The victims complied and the suspects fled the scene on foot in an unknown direction,” the alert reads.
Though BPD searched the area following the incident, they did not locate the suspects, according to the alert.
The suspects in the first incident are described as five male teenagers wearing dark clothing. In the second incident, the suspect who was allegedly carrying a gun is described as a 5’10″ male in his 20′s with a thin build, wearing a dark hoodie or jacket, dark pants and possibly a dark beanie. The second suspect is described as a 5’9″ – 5’10″ male in his 20′s with a medium build wearing dark clothing. The third suspect is described as a 5’8″ – 5’10″ male in his 20′s, wearing a dark jacket.
None of the victims in either incident were injured during the alleged armed robberies.

It is sexist to report that the suspects are men.
but seriously, how many 5’10″ males of an ambiguous race are there in berkeley? her description is very helpful and im sure they will get some leads!
Diversity is our greatest strength!
Remember to repeat that as you’re getting robbed/raped/murdered.

Do you really believe this is the mark of journalistic integrity, or are you too cowed by Political Correctness to act like a grown adult with a spine?
‘… were able to recover the victim’s bag and its contents but did not locate the suspects’
So was there a computer in the victim’s “computer bag” or not? Who steals some shit like that and leaves it behind?
No one that’s who.
Some 63 year old homeless drunk (the real translation of the phrase ‘affiliation unknown’) forgot where he set down his bag, walked to Sproul, and told the cops he was robbed.
UCPD is just dumb enough to believe that shit, and they found his bag for him!
Two more armed robberies, and two more instances of the Daily Cal deliberately redacting the suspects’ race from their story.
Political correctness for the win !
What’s really pathetic is that while in Mexico there are women journalists who risk their own lives on a regular basis to report the horrific criminal acts of narcoterroristas, in our own country we have a bunch of panty-wetting syncophants (of both sexes) who fear the disapproval of the political powers that be in the event they report information that doesn’t meet their approval. There’s a reason that most people in this country have a low regard for journalism – when they see students whoring themselves to the political establishment even as students, they know they won’t get the straight scoop from what they read in the paper or watch on TV…
