Banners with Occupy themes were hung from the Campanile and Eshleman Hall on the UC Berkeley campus Wednesday afternoon.
At around 12:15 p.m., a banner reading “Time UC Us Occupy,” was draped down the West face of the Campanile. About five minutes later, three smaller banners were lowered from the seventh floor of Eshleman Hall that read “Fuck You Birgeneau.”
At about 1:10 p.m., the banners on Eshleman were removed, and by about 1:30 p.m. the Campanile banner was gone.

“Fuck you, Birgeneau”? Classy. Reaaaaal classy.
daily cal why do you focus on the f*** you birgeneau banner and not the letter that actually seemed to be quite legitimate? bad reporting in my opinion
is this a serious question?
if these losers don’t want the daily cal reporting on them doing stupid stuff like hanging obscene banners off campus landmarks, then they shouldn’t do it in the first place.
take some personal responsibility, instead of blaming the media.
So what you’re saying is the the Daily Cal should serve as a tool for the Occupy Whatever people, and only offer info that portrays them in a favorable light, instead of dealing with the truth? Sounds like some people have been protected by political correctness for way too long…
its fair to show both sides. not just one. http://reclaimuc.blogspot.com/
wrong.
it’s fair for the daily cal to report on all newsworthy events occurring on campus. someone hanging an obscene banner off of a campus building is newsworthy. someone releasing a letter regurgitating the exact same points that have been made in dozens of other letters / statements / demands / etc. is not newsworthy.
…a more appropriate gesture, therefore, would have been a giant arrow pointing to the “manifesto”, not this piece of sophomoric obscenity.
You would think such a dynamic movement could be more creative with their text. Really? F U Birgeneau? All of that effort to make and put up a monumental sign and that is the message you want the world to read? That is the equivalent to writing “School lunch sucks” in middle school. I think the movement can do better than this.
While I agree with your general assessment regarding their juvenile slogans, their track record to date makes it clear that they CAN’T do better. Occupy Whatever is merely a collection of the usual attention-starved self-professed “activists”, touchie-feelie types who feel their Berkeley experience won’t be complete without engaging in some form of protest, the usual criminal element that shows up to flesh out the ranks, and the dumb bunnies who think these people actually have a clue…
We are unstoppable . . . Another world is possible!
they left a manifesto at the top and sent it to the daily cal. http://reclaimuc.blogspot.com/
Occupy issues should be about big business money swaying the politics of our country, not this trivial shit.
you mean like big business money the u.c. regents are made of?next time hang the friggin’ regents.reminds me of the former major league basball player found guilty of a caital offense and sentenced to hang.the hangman asked if he had any last requests, the ballplayer replied “how about a couple practice swings?”.
great job,occupiers!!!
so it CAN be done… I only envisioned,

Silly little children, desperately trying to appear relevant.
occupy a job, hippies.
That of course assumes they are employable. I certainly wouldn’t want any of these losers working for me…
i’m sure the oakland cannabis clubs would be happy to hire these @ssholes.
Based on some of their behavior, even the medical marijuana places would probably pass on them. A place trying to run a low-profile operation doesn’t need a bunch of attention-whores who feel the need to be in the spotlight 7/24.
You two have quite the ideological circlejerk going on here. What did you do while classes were out of session Ton?
I graduated years ago, and unlike you, moved out of Berkeley into the real world where I have a real job. I just check up on what’s happening at Cal these days when I need a laugh or two…
Are you that sneering to people in real life?
I haven’t commented every day – not that I would expect you to be interested in the truth…
