Woman robbed of necklace at gunpoint

A woman was the victim of an armed robbery in Berkeley Thursday, in which a man allegedly ripped off a gold necklace she was wearing.

At approximately 1:20 p.m., a 25-year-old woman was standing outside Alta Bates Summit Medical Center on Ashby Avenue when a man approached her and pointed a handgun at her, according to Sgt. Mary Kusmiss, spokesperson for the Berkeley Police Department. The suspect then allegedly pulled the necklace from her neck and ran north on Colby Street.

The victim sustained a minor injury to her neck as a result of the incident, according to Kusmiss.

According to Kusmiss, officers searched the area but could not find the suspect.
