ASUC Senate to hold first spring meeting

At the ASUC Senate’s first spring semester meeting Wednesday, bills proposing changing senate terms from one year to two years and moving funds out of banking corporations will be introduced.

An amendment to the ASUC Constitution proposed by Cooperative Movement Senator Elliot Goldstein would create two-year senate terms with 10 seats of the senate being up for election each spring.

Another bill, if approved, states that the ASUC would create a temporary committee to look into how to reinvest ASUC and ASUC Auxiliary financial resources by taking actions such as moving money out of Bank of America and into local banks.

Per usual senate process, the new bills will not be voted on during the meeting in order to allow community members and ASUC committees to discuss them first.
