Trying to find a concise definition for “swag?” Two words: Brittany Boyd.

Alongside first-year head coach Lindsay Gottlieb, the true freshman has completely revamped the Cal women’s basketball team. She puts on a show every time she steps onto the court — any court. It doesn’t matter if she’s beneath the lights of Haas Pavilion or in an opponent’s backyard; Boyd finds a way to step up.

In fact, both of Boyd’s 19-point performances (a career-high that she matched twice in one week) came at Stanford’s Maples Pavilion and Arizona State’s Wells Fargo Arena.

In the game against the Sun Devils she also posted an astounding 10 steals — hence this week’s accolade.

The Berkeley native is a rock star poised to become “the face” of Cal women’s hoops. She’s first on the team in assists (109) and steals (60). It’s no wonder that Boyd was Gottlieb’s first call once she officially ascended to the head of the team.
