Magnitude 3.5 earthquakes shake Berkeley

Two earthquakes that hit about 20 miles away from Berkeley were felt in the city on Wednesday evening and Thursday morning.

At 6:09 p.m. Wednesday and 9:13 a.m. Thursday, 3.5 magnitude quakes struck Crockett, Calif., which is 19 miles north of Berkeley, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The coordinates provided by the U.S.G.S. place the quake’s epicenters about one-tenth of a mile away from each other.

Both quakes caused light shaking and little to no damage, according to the U.S.G.S. The temblors were also felt in San Francisco, Vallejo, Novato and Walnut Creek, according to the U.S.G.S. response system in which residents can report whether they felt a quake in their city.

    Tell me again, what part of the UC’s educational and research mission requires a football team?

      Name one other event that brings 60,000 alumni back to campus.  Athletics, football and basketball in particular tie alumni back to their alma mater, without this connection, what small percentage of alumni that give back would likely lose touch with the university. What have you done for this school, not nearly as much as football I’m sure
