The area around People’s Park saw two robberies reported in the same night two weeks ago, according to police.
In the first incident, a 21-year-old female UC Berkeley student was walking on the 2500 block of Hillegass Avenue at around 8 p.m. Feb. 15 when three men approached her and proceeded to rob her of her purse and other personal belongings, according to a UCPD crime alert released Thursday.
The victim was unharmed during the robbery, but police were unable to locate the suspects, according to the alert.
The second incident occurred that same night at approximately 10:52 p.m., when a 19-year-old male victim was approached by two suspects on the corner of Regent Street and Dwight Way, according to the crime alert. After threatening the victim with a gun that was not visible and attempting to rob him, the suspects fled the scene and were later picked up by police, according to the alert.
According to the alert, officers from the Berkeley Police Department arrested two suspects in connection with the second incident, who have been identified as Hamisi Marshall and Demetri Murphy.
