Washington State head coach June Daugherty was gracious after Cal knocked her Cougars out of the Pac-12 Tournament.
“We wish them a long and successful run in NCAA tournament,” she said.
Daugherty talked about the difficulty of playing three games in three days.
“I think with eight minuntes to go, we ran out of gas a little bit,” she said.

Cal head coach Lindsay Gottlieb liked Cal’s energy in the second half. She also took note of the performance of Brittany Boyd and Gennifer Brandon.
“Brittany and Gen in particular really like space,” Gottlieb said. “They found those gaps. When I see a look in both of their eyes, sometimes it’s a toughness look, sometimes it’s a smile …”

Freshman point guard Brittany Boyd nearly had a triple-double with 14 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists. Marcus Gedai/Staff
Brandon, like Boyd, had a double-double. She set the Cal single-season record for rebounds with 319. Brandon pinpointed the right mindset for rebounding.
“Main thing is a person’s determination, to want the ball for their team,” she said.
