This week, Margot & the Nuclear So and So’s will release Rot Gut, Domestic. Although the band was initially categorized as chamber pop, they have been gravitating in an alternative rock direction, so it’ll be interesting to see if they decide to continue this route with their latest release.
Acclaimed dream-rock band The Shins will be releasing Port of Morrow this week. If you dig the album — which is their first one since 2007’s Wincing the Night Away — the group will be starting their U.S. tour in support of the album beginning in April.
Berkeley’s own Rancid will be playing two sold-out shows this Friday and Saturday at The Warfield in SF. It will be the first tour the punk veterans have done since 2009, so snatch some tickets if you can to witness the local favorites smash and riff the night away.
Local Limelight:
This week’s band comes in the disco-electric-rock dance flavor of The Hundred Days from San Francisco. Starting off as a promise to stay together as a group for at least one hundred days, the band has long surpassed that initial binding condition and has become a must-see group whose dance-ready songs have been steadily gaining fame throughout the Bay Area. The group has opened for other local acts such as The Limousines, and just recently played at this year’s SXSW. Check out their video below for “Girl at a Party.”

If your foot wasn’t tapping to that song, then I’m not sure what will get you grooving. What do you think of this week’s local band?
