It’s hard to believe that just over a year ago, Berkeley was in sore need of comic bookstores. After the sad closure of Downtown Berkeley’s famed haven Comic Relief in February of 2011, the opening of The Escapist (on Claremont Ave.) in the month following received a more than welcome reception from fans.
Now, it’s time to party once more as The Escapist celebrates its one year anniversary. This Saturday, starting at 7p.m., this prime destination for lovers of DC, Marvel and alike can revel in free food and refreshments. To Repeat: FREE FOOD AND REFRESHMENTS. There will also be live music from acoustic acts Paul Pot, Nebula Force Go! and Night Hikes to keep the evening groovy. So, for those who plan to stick around this weekend instead of gallivanting off for spring break, take a jaunt this Saturday over to what the East Bay Express dubs, the “Best Meet-Up for Freaks and Geeks!” Also, there’s comic books and free food and drink. Need I really say more?
