A memorial fund has been set up at UC Berkeley in honor of the man killed in the Berkeley Hills last month.

Peter Cukor, 67, was beaten to death outside his home in on Feb. 18, marking the city’s second homicide of 2012.

The fund in Cukor’s name was established by his family sometime in the last few days, according to UC Berkeley Gift Administration Control Desk Coordinator Claire Little.

Where the money ultimately goes will be determined by the family, but it must be in accordance with campus policies, according to Little.

“(The fund) can be used for anything that state tax dollars can be legally used for,” Little said. “Usually it is used for something that the deceased person or their family feels strongly about – for example, the department where they got their degrees.”
