Congressman George Miller, D-CA, will speak at UC Berkeley Wednesday evening about how support for public higher education is currently playing out in national politics.
The speaking event — which was organized by the ASUC Office of the External Affairs Vice President — will take place at 5:30 p.m. on the seventh floor of Eshleman Hall. Miller is the Senior Democrat of the House Education and Workforce Committee and has represented the state’s seventh congressional district since 1975.
“More and more students and families are forced to take on higher loan debt to compensate for the lack of funds provided for education, which, in effect, is working to limit the accessibility of higher education for many students,” the Facebook description for the event states. “Now more than ever it is important to know how the state and the country are dealing with these issues.”
Alisha Azevedo is the assistant university news editor.
