The transcript of a campus whistleblower report obtained by CalTV regarding the legitimacy of The Daily Californian’s fee initiative cites concern over the initiative’s potential conflict with UC policy.
In ASUC President Vishalli Loomba’s executive order invalidating the V.O.I.C.E. Initiative — which asked students voting in this year’s ASUC election if they would pay $2 per semester to help fund the Daily Cal — she said the campus whistleblower program received letters stating grievances against the initiative.
The transcript obtained by CalTV lists April 8 as its filing date and says the initiative could be in violation of UC policies against funding a non-university entity through student fee referendum funds. According to CalTV, the transcript was leaked by a source claiming to be a Daily Cal staff member.
