Berkeley police officers shot and injured a man during a shooting Friday evening.
A little after 10:30 p.m. Friday, officers were searching for a man who had fled from a vehicle stop. Officers spotted the suspect in an apartment near 8th and Delaware streets in West Berkeley, according to a media release from the department sent out Saturday.
According to the release, the suspect emerged from the apartment, ignored officers’ commands and opened fire on several officers. The officers subsequently opened fire on the suspect, who was then wounded and could not leave.
No officers were hit by gunfire in the incident. The police department’s investigation is still underway, and the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office will also conduct an investigation.
The officers involved in this shooting have been placed on administrative leave, per department policy, according to the release.

Please consider doing a little more investigation rather than just quoting a a police press release – it’s been almost 3 days, and area residents tell me that despite the block being taped off & constant searches, no gun has been found.
Another reason why Stanford is 100 times better than Cal.
