Suspects were detained Friday night shortly after a strong arm robbery on Southside.
At approximately 7:03 p.m., a 19-year-old woman was approached by two teenage female suspects on the corner of Channing Way and Bowditch Street, according to a UCPD crime alert.
While the first suspect allegedly pushed the victim in the chest, the second suspect allegedly grabbed the victim’s iPhone from her hand, according to the alert. After the victim cried for help, several passerby chased the suspects but lost them. The first suspect tossed the victim’s iPhone away during the chase, according to the alert.
After a Berkeley Police Department officer detained two possible suspects on Channing Way and College Avenue, the victim positively identified a 17-year-old Hayward teen and an 18-year-old Oakland woman as the suspects involved, according to the alert. The victim was not injured in the incident and was able to get her iPhone back.
