The suspect in a strong-arm robbery was apprehended shortly after allegedly robbing an exchange student Saturday outside of the Bank of America on the 2300 block of Telegraph Avenue.
The victim, a UC Berkeley exchange student, was withdrawing money from an ATM when he was approached from behind by Stanley Carnell Person around 6:41 p.m., according to a UCPD crime alert.
Person allegedly grabbed the student’s money and fled on foot. UCPD and the Berkley Police Department responded and searched the area.
A short time after, Berkeley police apprehended Person, who was positively identified by the victim, according to the alert.
The victim was not hurt in the incident.
