An armed robbery occurred Sunday morning when two victims were approached at the intersection of Benvenue Avenue and Russell Street.
The female and male victims were walking when they were approached by two male suspects at 12:54 a.m., according to a UCPD crime alert released Tuesday. One of the males allegedly produced a handgun and demanded the victims’ property.
The victims handed over their belongings, including a wallet, purse and cellphones. Neither victim was harmed during the encounter, according to the alert.
The suspects immediately left the scene on foot, police said. Berkeley Police Department searched the area but was unable to locate the suspects.
According to the UCPD crime alert, the suspects are described as:
Suspect #1 – a Black male, in his late 20s, 6’3” and 180 lbs., wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt.
Suspect #2 – a Black male, in his late 20s, 6’0” and 170 lbs., wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt.
