A UC Berkeley student was hit by a car Monday while crossing the street on Northside.

The 20-year-old female student was crossing the street at Euclid Avenue and Cedar Street at approximately 12:30 p.m. when a black sedan turning the corner hit her.

The car was flagged down by a passerby immediately after the collision.

Three Berkeley Police Department cars responded, as well as paramedics.

The student sustained minor injuries and was treated by paramedics at the scene.

According to Berkeley police spoksperson Officer Jennifer Coats, the car was most likely at fault in the incident, but an investigation is ongoing.

I saw the aftermath. Looked like it was the driver’s fault. However, there is plenty pedestrians can do to help ensure that stuff like this doesn’t become routine. We can start by getting rid of the mindset of “pedestrians have all the rights of automobiles but with none of the responsibilities.”
