A water main located near Clark Kerr Campus broke Sunday evening, leaving some residents of the housing complex without access to water throughout the remainder of Sunday and into Monday.

The 20-inch main is located under the soccer field and track near the residence hall campus and was first reported broken at around 6:30 p.m. Sunday, according to Charles Hardy, a spokesperson for the East Bay Municipal Utility District, which supplies water to Berkeley. He added that though the cause of the break has not yet been determined, usually mains break from wear and tear.

Buildings 2, 3, 4, 11, and 14 at the Clark Kerr Campus still have water, but others including the dining hall lost water service when the main broke. The water service had not been restored by around  4:30 p.m. Monday but is expected to be restored by 5:30 p.m., according to Marty Takimoto, the Director of Communications and Marketing for Residential & Student Service Programs.
