On Friday, UC Berkeley announced the appointment of Larry Conrad as the campus’s next associate vice chancellor for information technology and chief information officer.
Conrad previously served as the vice chancellor for information technology and chief information officer at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, for the last five years. There, he oversaw the rollout of a new student information technology system, the renovation of campus infrastructure and the development of a number of cost-saving programs.
“His record of accomplishment as a collaborative IT leader with a strong focus on successful execution, and his experience in multiple public institutions, makes him extraordinarily well qualified to help Berkeley meet our many critical strategic goals,” said Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost George Breslauer and Vice Chancellor of Administration and Finance John Wilton in a campuswide email.
Conrad is set to begin on Feb. 18, 2013.
