Man arrested for alleged stabbing and house-burning

Berkeley police arrested a man Tuesday after he allegedly stabbed two people and set a house on fire after police arrived.

Police were called around 4 p.m. on a report of an assault with a deadly weapon, according to the San Jose Mercury News. Police and firefighters found two people with stab wounds upon arriving at the South Berkeley home, located in the 1400 block of Harmon Street.

The two people were taken to a nearby hospital, the Mercury News states. When attempting to enter the home, the man locked the doors and allegedly started a fire using lighter fluid. The fire was controlled. The names and conditions of the victims were not available, the Mercury News states.
