1. “Zoolander” at United Artists
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to see a really, really ridiculously good-looking man? Do you wear a piano-key necktie to your friends’ joint funerals after they perished during the ignorant bliss of a post-orange mocha frappuccino gasoline fight? If you said yes to the above, then you, my friend, are a true Zoolanderian. In which case, you’ll know that this Feb. 7 at the United Artists movie theater, there is a flashback screening of the film that gave us Magnum, Blue Steel and Ferrari. Go see it. It’s so hot right now.
2. “Community premiers on Thursday
After that flawless finale of “30 Rock,” it’s easy to say, “That’s as good as it gets. I’m quitting television. Time to finally take up calligraphy!” Don’t be too hasty, my fancy penmanship-loving pal, for this Feb. 7, NBC has your back. This week, “Community” returns! And yes, it’s worth an exclamation mark because it’s been ever so long since we last saw the ragtag gang of Jeff, Annie, Britta, Troy, Abed, Shirley, Pierce, Dean Pelton and Annie’s Boobs (the monkey). So build a pillow (or blanket) fort and enjoy. The Greendale Seven welcome you back.
3. Stella Classic Nightclub Show at the Mezzanine
Funk rock, baby. It’s smooth, groovy and a little bit naughty. It also happens to be the music of choice for the comedic trio of Michael Ian Black, David Wain and Michael Showalter. As part of the the annual comedy festival SF Sketchfest, the group will be performing a “Classic Nightclub Show” at San Francisco’s Mezzanine this Sunday, Feb. 10. Be sure and wear a suit. This is “dumb comedy dressed up.”
4. CODEX International Book Fair in Richmond
Every afternoon, I like to stroll into the fourth floor rare book portion of Moe’s and sniff the pages of a 18th-century manual. It soothes my old, cat lady soul, and beginning this Sunday, Feb. 10 at Richmond’s Craneway Pavilion, that cat lady soul will be supremely happy. The reason being? It’s CODEX, the International Book Fair. More than 175 bookmakers and artists will be in attendance alongside their beautiful works. For bibliophiles, this is the place to be.
