If you’re 21 years of age and reside in or anywhere near Berkeley, you’ve definitely witnessed what most people refer to as “Kip’s o’ clock.” For those of you underagers, let us attempt to describe what goes on at Kip’s, one of Berkeley’s only nearby bars.

You arrive at around 11:50 p.m. to assure you get a table before midnight — also known as Kip’s o’ clock — rolls around, and the somewhat unassuming and quiet bar instantaneously turns into a mosh pit of Cal undergrads. While you’re there, it’s not uncommon for the fog of beer, sweat and French fries to overwhelm your ability to see clearly through the crowd, causing you to have a distorted understanding of what actually goes on at Kip’s.

Never fear, the website “Men of Kip’s” is here to provide you with a play-by-play of what you might have missed during your night out. For the first time ever, we get an inside look at a rare species: the “Kip’s Man.” Jam-packed with photos and captions of, literally, just men at Kip’s, the website captures young men in their natural habitat — innocently on the prowl for their Kip’s soulmate. We’re not sure who exactly started this website, but we thank them for this public live feed of “Kip’s-capades.”

So whether you’ve ever had the grand privilege of stepping through the legendary doors of Kip’s or are still waiting for that glorious day when Tony-the-bouncer will approve your ID, the Clog heeds you a warning to keep a lookout for the unassuming, feisty and courageous “Men of Kip’s.”
