Overwhelmed by election hype? Have no fear — Nathan Adrian has come to the rescue! This week the Clog spied a video of Nathan Adrian encouraging students to vote in the upcoming ASUC election. No, he doesn’t shove any specific candidate down our throats. He just asks us, as a student body, to simply get educated on the candidates and involve ourselves in the elections.
“Not only vote for the party,” he says, “but make sure you do a little bit of research and know what they stand for.”
Who isn’t going to be motivated to vote after a three-time Olympic gold medalist swimmer asks you to — and in such a friendly manner.
ASUC campaigning is still in full force as voting began yesterday. Most of us have been chased down by random candidate promoters, overwhelmed by the giant signs covering Sproul or spammed on Facebook by that one friend who is obsessed with the ASUC. But let’s be honest: Despite all of these efforts, a large majority of us are likely to not vote. Why? Some students may be too annoyed or overwhelmed by all of the campaigning; others may just not have the time … or simply forget to. But maybe this video will encourage us to get educated and get involved — especially if you’re a bit star struck by Nathan Adrian like we are!
