Student victim of evening robbery next to Unit 2

A 20-year-old female student was the victim of a strong-arm robbery next to Unit 2 Monday evening.

The victim was walking on the 2600 block of Haste Street and talking on her cellphone about 10:14 p.m. when the suspect approached her from behind, pushed her and grabbed her phone, according to the UCPD crime alert released Wednesday. He fled on foot through the Unit 2 loading dock area toward Dwight Way.

The victim was not injured during the encounter. UCPD and Berkeley Police Department searched the area but were unable to locate the perpetrator.

According to the UCPD crime alert, the suspect is described as:

A black or hispanic male in his teens, 5-foot-7 in height, thin build with a dark complexion and short mustache, wearing a black baseball-style cap, black shirt with white/green lettering, black pants and black shoes.
