On Thursday night, hundreds of students and candidates gathered in 2050 VLSB to witness the 2014 ASUC election tabulation. The event marked the end of a contentious election season that saw CalSERVE presidential candidate Naweed Mohabbat criticized for his comments on divestment and Student Action presidential candidate Pavan Upadhyayula facing accusations of alleged violations of ASUC bylaws during campaigning. Despite the tense atmosphere of the elections, CalSERVE continued its momentum from last year’s election and captured three of the four partisan executive seats, with Student Action taking the presidential seat.
