Service to and from San Francisco via BART has been temporarily limited Friday due to a protest at the West Oakland BART station.

According to NBC News, a group of about 20 individuals chained themselves to each other on the platform to protest and show dissatisfaction with the recent decision by a grand jury to not indict Ferguson, Missouri, police officer Darren Wilson in the fatal shooting of Michael Brown. A BART media alert stated that at about 12 p.m. Friday, there was a major systemwide delay due to police activity at the station. BART officials urge those heading to San Francisco to seek alternative modes of transportation.

As of 12:20 p.m., Jeffrey Jennings, deputy chief of operations for BART Police Department, said they were unsure when service would continue again.
