Picks of the week

On Tuesday, Passion Pit will be releasing its much-awaited for third studio album, Kindred. The 10-track album is available to stream live now on iTunes First Play here. The first single off the record, “Lifted Up (1985),” was released in mid-February and created a lot of hype for Kindred — you have probably already heard the track on the radio. This album has a different sound than the band’s last hit album, Gossamer, but nonetheless lives up to Passion Pit’s standards.

Some people say things such as “anthropocentric” and “ecocentric” and “humanocentric” and “polycentric.” Others say “goatcentric.” You can meet those (latter) people! On Saturday, San Francisco’s Embarcadero and Ferry Plaza will host its annual Goat Festival. Goats! And not just goats, but also goat cheese and goat pies and goat meat. (Not to mention goat talks and goat yogurt and goat demonstrations.) Most importantly, there will be people who are willing to travel just to see goats. What this says about industrialization and society’s subsequent dearth of goats is largely subjective. (And, contextually, not that important.)

The festival begins at 8 a.m. and runs throughout the day.
