An Amtrak train passing through Berkeley fatally hit a male victim Monday about 11:50 a.m., according to Amtrak spokesperson Vernae Graham.
The victim, identified as Daniel Stalker, 47, died from multiple blunt force injuries, according to Victoria Gebelein, a sheriff’s technician at the Alameda County Coroner’s Bureau. Stalker, who was homeless, moved frequently throughout the East Bay area, Gebelein said.
Amtrak Capitol Corridor train No. 535, which operates in a stretch from San Jose to Sacramento, had 101 passengers at the time of the incident, which occurred as the train passed Bancroft Way. No passengers were injured, Graham said.
