Berkeley Police Department released a Nixle alert about 9:23 p.m. asking for the community’s assistance in locating a missing person at risk.

Berkeley resident Wyda McDougal, 87, had been missing from her board and care facility, located on the 2100 block of Carleton Street, as of 7:15 p.m, according to the alert. She had been last seen wearing tan slippers, purple athletic pants and a white T-shirt.

McDougal suffers from Alzheimer’s and cannot speak, according to the alert. She walks slowly, or “shuffles,” and wears a medical alert bracelet with her name and address.

McDougal was later located unharmed a few blocks from her board and care facility, according to a second BPD Nixle alert issued at about 6:01 a.m. Wednesday.
