4-copy
Phillip Downey/Senior Staff

California — the Golden State — is known for its luscious landscape and flourishing fauna. It is famous for picturesque destinations and activities. Because of this plethora of highly varied destinations, it is a popular state for tourists to visit.

Most Californians divide the state into two parts: Northern and Southern California. From an outsider’s perspective, Northern California is known for its fog, hipsters and coffee shops. Southern California is renowned for its sun, beaches and Disneyland.

In this photo essay, each picture is captured by a previous photo editor of The Daily Californian: Michael Drummond, Kore Chan, Rachael Garner, Phillip Downey and Ethan Epstein. All of these previous photo editors either lived or currently live in California.
