BPD, BFD respond to fire at Berkeley Metropolitan apartment

Berkeley Police Department and Berkeley Fire Department responded to a fire at the Berkeley Metropolitan apartment complex Sunday morning.

BPD received a report of the incident 9:18 a.m., according to an on-duty BPD dispatcher. The fire is no longer active — BPD considered the incident “terminated” as of 10:33 a.m., according to the dispatcher.

BPD issued a Nixle alert 9:46 a.m. Sunday informing residents officers were responding to a working structure fire in a multi-unit residential apartment on the 2300 block of Durant Ave.

The alert advised residents to stay clear of the building and said firefighters were working to put out the fire.
