2 men arrested in connection to July shooting at Berkeley Marina

Berkeley Police Department released a Nixle alert Thursday afternoon notifying the community that two arrests were made Tuesday morning in connection to a shooting that occurred in late July.

According to the alert, the two men — Alan Garcia, 25, of Richmond and Mateo Calvillo, 32, of South San Francisco — were arrested for alleged involvement in the shooting. The shooting, which occurred July 29, left the victim with multiple gunshot wounds and left his vehicle partially submerged in the Berkeley Marina. The warrants were served in Richmond and South San Francisco, and Garcia and Calvillo had their initial court appearances Thursday, the alert said.

Garcia is being charged with attempted murder, shooting into an occupied vehicle, possession of cocaine for sale and seven felony enhancements, according to the alert. Calvillo is being charged with attempted murder, shooting into an occupied vehicle and two felony enhancements, the alert said.
