Power outage affects 17,800 PG&E customers in Berkeley, Oakland

A power outage hit the city of Berkeley at 1:58 a.m. Friday, affecting approximately 17,800 PG&E customers, according to PG&E spokesperson Tamar Sarkissian.

The outage affected residents in South Berkeley, Downtown Berkeley and North Oakland, according to Sarkissian. The power was restored by 5:05 a.m., within three hours of the outage.

The cause of the outage is currently under investigation.

“Safety is our top priority,” Sarkissian said.
