This week at the Weekender, we are taking a moment to look to the past as well as the future. In this issue, we reflect on some major political movements and transitions that have taken place in the last year, and consider what these changes might mean going forward.
The second annual Women’s March, which took place on Jan. 21, created an opportunity for activism and reflection. Writer Grace Vogel comments on the evolution of the movement as well as her personal experience as a participant. Conversely, writer Anna Tseselsky offers her own critique of the March, explaining why she chose not to attend. Read that here.
Writer Danielle Miller interviewed Greg Barker, the director of “The Final Year,” a documentary chronicling the last year of the Obama administration. Barker reveals his inspiration and intentions for the film in this Back and Forth piece. Check that out here.
Our portfolio section this week features a poem by assistant Weekender editor Molly Nolan on the experience of creative writing and self-expression. This issue also features a piece of artwork by design editor Victoria Do, a second year intended media studies major, as a part of our continuing series, “From the Design Desk.”
