Now that May is just upon the horizon, it’s time to plan some fun things to do to celebrate all your great accomplishments of this academic year! Here’s a list of awesome events that you can relish in with buddies or solo!

May 12: 2018 Taiwanese American Cultural Festival at SF Union Square, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

This FREE event will provide your fill of Taiwanese food, music and dance, all at the same time. This is the 26th year that the event has been put on, and there are events for both new and returning passers-by!

May 15: MGMT at The Warfield, 8 p.m.

Endorsing its latest album, Little Dark Age, MGMT will be at The Warfield to deliver a good time with some rad tunes. Remember “Electric Feel”? Well, now the boys are back to bring out some fresh songs to add to your summer playlist.

May 17: Franz Ferdinand at Fox Theater, 8 p.m.

This timeless band will be bringing delicious rock music to those who are willing to feed their ears.

May 18-20: Maker Faire Bay Area at San Mateo County Events Center

Come marvel at the fruits of creativity intersecting with invention. If you’re interested in futuristic design of all aspects of culture from music to health, this is the event for you. This large event lasts for a few days so don’t feel rushed to visit the many events and booths all at once.

May 20: SF Matcha Fest at SPARK Social SF, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Summer is the perfect time to turn over a new (tea) leaf. If you want to improve your relationship with matcha in general, what better way to do so than attending this wonderful event, which will be serving up treats and drinks of the green tea variety.

May 24: Modest Mouse @ Fox Theater, 8 p.m.

Just one of the cool bands that will be playing near Berkeley this summer, in support of its most recent album, Strangers to Ourselves

May 26: Taco Festival of Innovation in San Jose, noon to 6 p.m.

Waaat!? Hella tacos. Very yum. Much wow. Come thru.

Along with the plethora of concerts to go to this May, there are still many other events to explore for all you foodies out there. Just stay on the lookout. Of course, May can generally be a stressful month for Berkeley students (finals, getting grades back after finals) so just staying home and doing nothing sounds very enjoyable too.
