Stairway in Downtown Berkeley collapses, injuring 1

A stairway collapsed at a Downtown Berkeley building Saturday, as first reported by Berkeleyside.

According to an email from Berkeley Fire Department spokesperson Keith May, the collapse was reported on the 2000 block of Milvia Street. At 6:59 p.m., BFD arrived and noted that the stairs had collapsed while two people were on the stairs.

May added that only one person complained of an injury and was subsequently transported to a local hospital for treatment.
