A passer-by found homeless Berkeley resident Kareah Mendoza, 39, dead on the steps of the Veterans Memorial Building in Downtown Berkeley, as first reported by Berkeleyside.
According to Berkeley Police Department spokesperson Officer Byron White, the passer-by found Mendoza at 7:43 a.m. Thursday, and the death did not appear to be suspicious. He added that the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office Coroner’s Bureau took over the case.
