Mmm… desserts. They’re what we live for and what we look the most forward to after a meal out. Desserts come in a variety of shapes and sizes, and there’s at least one dessert out there, if not all, that will surely satisfy your sweet tooth. Sept 4., Eat an Extra Dessert Day, is finally here — we know, what a great excuse to eat your favorite sweets! There are a billion desserts in Berkeley that you can choose from, so we at the Clog would like to guide you through some of our favorite spots in Berkeley so you can make the most of your Sept. 4!

Crumble & Whisk

1047 Murray St., Berkeley, CA 94710

Crumble & Whisk easily serves the best cheesecakes in Berkeley, or maybe even the Bay Area. It carries an array of sensational flavors such as pecan crumble and green tea with avocado. After a bite of Crumble & Whisk’s creamy cheesecake, you’ll be begging for more! Did we mention the crust? It’s buttery and to die for, indeed. Unfortunately, Crumble & Whisk doesn’t have a storefront, so you have to order in advance. However, the business is pretty active in the community, so you can most likely spot it at your local farmers market

Dora’s

1966 University Ave., Berkeley, CA 94704

The number of pies you can choose from at Dora’s always shocks us. The store carries a large variety of pies, from its seasonal peach macadamia pie to its famous and extremely silky chocolate silk pie. Dora’s also sells beer! What a bonus!

Gadani

139 Berkeley Square, Berkeley, CA 94704

Who doesn’t love Gadani? It’s the place to satisfy both of your dessert cravings: ice cream and egg puffs! Get your choice of ice cream wrapped in freshly made egg puffs topped with rose petals, honey or even cookie crumbs!

Tara’s Organic Ice Cream

3173 College Ave., Berkeley, CA 94705

Tara’s has to be one of our all-time favorite spots to satisfy our ice cream cravings. It provides an array of different flavors from your classic vanilla to the newest craving — yerba mate. We highly recommend getting your choice of flavor in the black sesame cone because why not? Tara’s is also vegan-friendly, so for our vegans or lactose-intolerant folks out there, this is the perfect place for you!

Masse’s Pastries

1469 Shattuck Ave., Berkeley, CA 94709

Just a short bus ride away, Masse’s Pastries is known for its cakes, but its French macarons come at a close second. Masse’s probably sells some of the best macarons in Berkeley. The spot’s flavors range from salted caramel (a must!) to pistachio, and all the flavors are just the right amount of sweetness. Our favorite cake, hands down, has to be Masse’s chocolate hazelnut. It’s rich and will just melt in your mouth with each bite!

Happy Lemon

2106 Shattuck Ave., Berkeley, CA 94704

Cheese and boba? We know it’s a weird concept but we swear it’s delicious. With each sip, you get a hint of sweetness from the boba milk tea and hint of saltiness from the cheese. It’s the perfect combination of sweet and savory! It’s really hard to explain, so you’ll just have to try it!

Don’t be limited by the list of amazing desserts in Berkeley we’ve provided for you. There are so many more out there for you to explore, but we’ve just jotted down some of our favorites. We at the Clog wish you full stomachs and joy on this Eat an Extra Dessert Day!
