34-year-old man arrested on suspicion of indecent exposure on Southside Berkeley

Berkeley Police Department arrested a 34-year-old man Saturday on suspicion of repeated indecent exposures, according to a Nixle alert released Tuesday afternoon.

An unidentified man was reported as “exposing himself and masturbating in public” near Dwight Way and Etna Street several times throughout 2018, the alert said. Upon recognizing a pattern, officers conducted multiple surveillance operations in an attempt to catch the suspect.

In November 2018, an officer detained a suspicious person in the area, after which the activity stopped. Officers continued their investigation into the suspicious person in collaboration with sex crimes detectives, eventually issuing an arrest warrant for multiple counts of indecent exposure, according to the alert.

BPD and California Highway Patrol officers arrested 34-year-old suspect David Forrest Chandler Herrington on Saturday. Herrington was charged by the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office with four counts of indecent exposure, the alert said.
