CalSERVE swept the executive positions in the ASUC elections, taking four of the five offices, according to preliminary results released tonight.
CalSERVE candidates-including Roxanne Winston for president, Carlo de la Cruz for academic affairs vice president, Dionne Jirachaikitti for external affairs vice president and Krystle Pasco for executive vice president-won the executive slate for the 2008-09 term, according to initial results.
Independent candidate Matt DeMartini, who was endorsed by both CalSERVE and Student Action, won the student advocate post.
The last time a single party held the four primary executive positions in the association was during the 2006-07 term when Student Action controlled all of the executive offices except for the historically-independent student advocate.
This year, three of the executive positions were held by CalSERVE, including President Van Nguyen, Executive Vice President Taylor Allbright and External Affairs Vice President Danny Montes. Student Action presidential candidate Curtis Lee currently serves as the academic affairs vice president.
The SUPERB referendum, asking for a $4.50 fee increase, failed to pass after a similar referendum had also failed last year.
