The Blue Shield of California Foundation announced a $1 million grant to UC Berkeley last week, aimed at improving health care in California hospitals.
The grant will allow the campus to conduct a comprehensive evaluation of the California Healthcare-Associated Infection Prevention Initiative, which uses groundbreaking technology to reduce the number of health care-associated infections, according to a release from the foundation. The initiative currently includes 55 hospitals.
The foundation is offering $7.7 million in grants altogether to 17 nonprofits across California for the promotion of health technology, the support of the health care safety net and the reduction of domestic violence.
